You need to be careful!. You're going to put your body into "starvation mode" which will make you gain a ton of weight!. Look at it this way: Even if you did nothing but sleep for 24 hours, you would still burn an average of 1500 calories in that 24 hours!. Now add in the fact that you aren't sleeping--even now, you're typing, kicking your legs, whatever!. If you keep your daily intake anywhere between 1200-1500 calories, you will lose weight!.

Other things to keep in mind: there are foods you can eat that have so few calories that your body will burn more calories digesting them than the foods actually have!.
Examples:
carrots
lettuce
spinach
romaine
celery
cucumber
And many many more! You can eat as many of these foods as you want and it won't make you gain an ounce (as long as you don't smother them in high-cal dips and dressings)!.

Also, eat lots of high-fiber foods--most or all dark green veggies are high in fiber!. Apples are also very high in fiber, and a medium sized apple is only about 50 calories! Fiber fills you up and acts as a natural detox system!.

And don't skimp on your protein, either!. Your body is still developing and you need protein for those muscles!. Eat plenty of the following for healthy protein:
pinto beans
baked beans (minus the ham and cinnamon)
black-eyed peas
small servings of pistachios, peanuts, almonds, or walnuts
lean beef (trim the fat off)--not fast food
1 egg counts as one serving of protein

Make sure your breads are whole wheat or whole grain!. There is an AWESOME brand called Whitewheat that looks and tastes like white bread but has all the nutrition of wheat bread, plus the serving size is 2 slices per serving instead of one!. And it fills you up!

Drink LOTS of water!. If your body is dehydrated, you will put on water weight!. Your body will retain water to keep you alive!. I have gained 4 pounds in 2 days and it was all water weight! I drank 10 glasses of water the next day and ate less salty food and the weight was gone!

Don't get discouraged if you don't feel like you are making progress!. Write down your weight weekly so you can look back and see your progress!.

You will probably gain 3-5 pounds a week or so before your period is due!. Don't worry, it is only water retention and that weight will go away the week of your period!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You've cut back too much on your calories - this will cause your body to cut back its metabolism which will slow down your weight loss!. Don't try to go below 1200 calories each day!.

Add fruits and vegetables to your diet!. They're high in fiber and water and make you feel full on fewer calories!. Don't skip meals; instead, try to eat 5 or 6 small meals daily!.

Fit in as much physical activity as you can every day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

500 is a starvation diet that you cannot maintain!. your- basal metabolism- calories burned at rest with no activity- is far more than that!. eventually your body will need more fuel and begin breaking down muscle tissue!. your body also gets very efficient at storing fat since it thinks you are starving!.

you are better off eating small frequent portions throughout the day to keep the metabolism going!.

A guess for how many calories you should eat- take your goal wt and multiply it by 10-12!.

I will assume you are no longer eating junk like chips, candy and soda!. Rather than calories, focus on fiber- 25 grams a day- you'll have to eat a lot of food to do it but it will be healthy- whole grain cereal and bread, crackers, and tons of vegetables!. You also need 3 servings of lean protein a day- fish, poultry, low fat dairy, beans- protein takes energy to digest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Our body needs energy to perform all our daily works and for our metabolism!.Without adequate energy our survival will be impossible!. We need energy even for our breathing, bathing eating, and for each and every action we are performing!. Food what we eat, gives us this energy!. that means we cannot exist without food for a long period!.
I think you are making some mistake while counting your calories,There are many hidden calories in food items!. And in fact if you are really eating 500, or even 900 calories per day for a prolonged period, you will become malnutrition and fall sick!. your age is still growing age!. you need sufficient and healthy calories from all nutrient groups, i!.e, carbs, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals for proper growth!. Eat healthy foods along with fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, eggs and fish at least 1500 calories per day and even more depending upon your physical activities!.but avoid alcohol, excess sugar and salt, excess saturated fats!.And remember regular physical exercise is also equally important for ideal body and health!.Best wishes for healthy body and healthy mind!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on your body style!. What you weigh plays the biggest part in that!. You need to eat the amount of calories that counteracts your weight!. It is not healthy, though some may think so, to eat less calories than you should!. If you don't want to post your weight, email me and I can help you better by knowing!.
EDIT: Becoming a vegetarian does not necessarily help because you still need SOME carbs!.!.!. and protein!.!. things you don't get from veggiesWww@Answer-Health@Com

Your friend is right, you should be eating more than that!. 500 through 900 is nothing, your body needs food to work properly!.
If you want to loose weight, eat the right amount of calories like 1600 - 1800, exercise daily, eat healthy and drink plenty of water!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well if you have several healthy snacks regularly, healthy meals, drink a lot of water and exercise, you should get there but if you really are obese it probably won't slip off in an instantWww@Answer-Health@Com

if you don't eat at least 1200 calories a day your body will go into "Starvation Mode" and will hold on to all the fat and then you wont lose any weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
