Why do the trainers use the big inflated ball?!


Question:

Why do the trainers use the big inflated ball?

Sorry for the lack of better terms, but I don't know the correct terminology for that large ball that people try and balance themselves on.

I know it provides a way to gain better balancing, but what else does it do? It seem like a waste of time to me.


Answers:

It's an exercise ball and it is good for a great many things. You can do an entire workout on every part of your body with one of them! I use it as a bench for dumbbell presses, an ab machine, workout my hamstrings and back, do push-ups on it (much harder!), and work my thighs by putting it against a wall behind my back and squatting. The ball exercises are my favorite part of my weight training.

My trainer said all you need to workout is an exercise ball and those stretchy bands. Voila! Complete home gym. :)

I also use it as a chair so I work my abs when just sitting.
