How to stop your muscles from getting sore?!

How to stop your muscles from getting sore?
OK, so I'm the girl at the gym on the eliptical (spelling?) all the time.
I've recently started weight training to tone my arms and calves.
Someone told me to take Advil before the work out and my muscle won't be sore. But then someone else said to take Amino Acid.
What's been your experience?

Answers:
Being sore is a good sign that you have really worked the muscle.
Feeling pain is a good sign that you went too far in your training.
Keep your electrolytes up and drink plenty of fluids.
Take a hottt bath and get your kids to massage your legs, back, and arms.
Do not work out more than 3 times per week with one day off in between and Saturday AND Sunday >>> REST.
(no drugs, do not mask the pain or soreness, listen to your body)
