hi i recently went to GNC and purchased a weight gainer called Pro Performance Weight Gainer 1850. See im really underweight and want to gain between 10-17 lbs. I've been reading and it said that the weight gainers make you fat, is it true. I do want to gain weight but not fat. So how long do you think it will take me to gain the weight and how much fat will be added on? Should i take this everyday with regular meals? What exercises should i preform? do you think its a bad idea my parents are making me. i lift 5lb weights everyday for20-40 minutes. What foods should i eat to help me gain wieght? I dont think i should take these so does anyone have any reccomendations on how i can convince my parents not to make me take these, money, or eating alot.,
im 13 year old female, 5ft 5 in and weigh 102lbs

The kind of weight that these shakes make you gain actually varies from person to person. I was actually really skinny when I was younger, because my metabolism was really fast. I tried to gain some good weight (muscle) so I started taking weight gainer shakes. They helped me a lot because before the shakes I would eat high protein trying to gain muscle but my body would instead burn it for energy because of the fast metabolism. Your body always burns calories fats and carbs before protein. With the weight gainer my body would burn the calories in the shake then use the protein for building the muscle. To tell you the truth though, you are 13 years old! You are still so young! Most 13 year old girls are thin and fill out more as they get older. Give it a few years and if you still aren't happy try something different. As long as you are healthy(no eating disorders), which I would assume you are if you are asking us how to gain some weight, everything should be ok. Hope this gives what want.
