If you look on the RAF website. There is a fitness area. They give you a six week course, which will gradually build up your fitness. In the course there is a wide range of exercises, so you don't just get set on one exercise... It's working for me !
Your diet, i think to stick to one, you should eat everything in moderation. Don't just cut things out because you will crave them more. Add more healthier things to your diet such as fruit and vegetables. Drink more water. You will feel great after a week or so on it.
