First you need to be doing cardio, cardio is what burns lots of calories and gets rid of the fat covering your muscles. You should be doing about an hour of cardio most days of the week. As far as toning your abs you should be doing crunches, side crunches, reverse crunches on a ball, the pilates 100 etc. Lean toned muscle burns fat so work on your muscles but remember cardio is super important!
