People who use weight-gainers or supplements (Kreatine) to gain muscle or to get!

Question:

People who use weight-gainers or supplements (Kreatine) to gain muscle or to get buff cheat?

Almost everyone in my school uses some sort of supplements to help them get buff and to gain muscles; Protein Shakes, etc. I believe that doing this is basically cheating and I do not consider this real strength or real success.

I started lifting last (no supplements, just straight, dedicated lifting) summer and at the end of the summer, I had gained 20lbs. of all muscle; I used to be skinny. They use the supplements to gain their muscle and then show off. I just find it funny that they all have to use supplements to become stronger and more defined, while I can just lift normally and for real, and have better results...yet they still show off.

I think my one friend used to use steroids, but he stopped. Now he used weight gainers and weird shakes and eats enormous amounts of foods to keep up his size. He lost some of his definition and never really gets stronger, but still shows off. Can you say idiot?

What do you think of these methods?

That friend of mine has been lifting weights since the 7th grade and can lift 60lbs. in each bicep (12th grade now). I started weight lifting in the summer of 10th grade and by the middle of my junior year, I could lift 45lbs. in each bicep, yet he would still talk trash.

I find that funny, don't you?

The only thing that he has over me, is that he can bench 250lbs., whereas I can only bench about 130lbs. He only uses machines, which I think takes off some weight compared to free weights.

What do you think?

Answers:

Good for you for building muscle the right way! I also think that these guys who take protein shakes/pills/steroids etc. are going to be met with some rather unpleasant side-effects.

For example steroids can cause (in males): shrinking of the testicles, infertility, baldness, development of breasts, increased risk for prostate cancer. Teenagers also risk stunting their growth.

My health teacher took supplements (Creatine I think), when he was younger, not realizing that it would have lasting effects on his health. He's now balding in his early twenties and blames the Creatine.
