Weight loss question...?!

Question:

Weight loss question...?

i have been on a diet (weight watchers) since january and i have lost 15 lbs. i want to lose just 10 more lbs., but for some reason it just doesn't want to come off. what do i need to do to lose that last 10? how long on the treadmill should i do each day? and another question, how do you know if you lost fat, rather than water weight? and 1 more question, how do you lose fat, and not water weight? thank you in advance to everyone who helps me!

Answers:

I personally haven't been on weight watchers but I've read their program and it sounds helpful... here's some tips from what I've learned

weight loss slows down as you become closer to the weight your body feels is ideal...so if you have lost 15 pounds in 6 months, that's about 2-3 pounds a month, which is great, but healthy weight loss is about 1-2 a month so the last 10 pounds might take 4-5 months, which is ok...

Also, don't consider a diet as something to do temporarily to lose weight and then forget about...consider it instead a way to live a healthy lifestyle and something you'll do until you die. This way, you won't become discouraged and gain weight back plus you'll be healthier and happier.

Working out on the treadmill is a good way to help lose weight, but try to mix it up with other activities such as swimming (great to do in the summer), aerobics, pilates, etc which will help tone the whole body and not just the legs

As for how to know that you lost fat and not water weight...make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day and don't weigh yourself at the end of the day, instead weigh yourself every other day or 2 times a week IN the MORNING when you have not put anything into your body in 7-9 hours (and after you go to the bathroom) since that will give you the most accurate value... also keep in mind that you will vary by a pound or two, its ok

finally, you lose fat by working out and eating right...water weight will fluctuate but fat will steadily go away and it might take a week or two to see the results but with water, if you weight right before and after you go to the bathroom and notice a difference, that is the water loss, not fat.

so eat right, exercise regularly and you should see the weight gradually go off (but find a routine you can do for life and call it your "healthy eating plan" not a "diet you only do until you've lost 25 pounds")

good luck!
