Answers:

Do both. Shoot for weight training three times a week, and do cardio on the in-between days. Or follow-up your weight training with 15-20 minutes of high intensity cardio.

Research has shown that when you perform cardio AFTER resistance training, you burn more fat than when you perform it before. This probably has to do with your body being in a more carb depleted state, which forces your body to tap fat stores for recovery.

When you do perform cardio, consider doing high-intensity, relatively short-duration interval training.

So instead of endurance running, which has a tendency to reduce lean muscle mass, perform sprints or do your cardio at 70-80 percent of your maximum heart rate for 1-2 minutes and then cycle down, jogging for two minutes, and then back to 70-80 percent MHR for another 1-2 minutes. Continue this cycle for 20-25 minutes.

Not only will it increase your stamina, but it will also torch a lot of calories in a short amount of time, rev up your metabolism and in the case of sprinting, actually build muscle in your legs while burning fat.

Best of luck!
