Blood pressure exercise question?!

Question: Blood pressure exercise question!?
ok, i am a 52 year old male!. 6ft 210!. beer gut, smoker, (cigs), and a beer drinker!. recently, i fell and bumped my head!. i had to go to the emergency room and get sewed up!. well, it turns out my blood pressure is high, 150/90!. i had already been walking and jogging some to work on my very un-girlish figure but have since picked it up a bit!. i'm doing four miles per day in about one hour and am wondering if that may be enough to bring my BP down!? if so, how long before i can expect to see a decrease!? i have no insurance and am trying to avoid a doctor visit but i don't want to wait too long and risk a stroke/heart attack!. is a month long enough to see if lifestyle changes are working!? thank you!. jimWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Wow!.!.!. yes your BP is high!.!. You are a hypertension candidate!.

Do NOT jog!. You want to stay in a target zone of about 75% of your Max Heart rate!. If I were you I would do brisk walking for the first 6 weeks!. After which have your BP rechecked ( DO NOT CONSUME CAFFEINE beforehand) and see where it is at!. If it is 135 or below you can incorporate some light jogging!.

DISCONTINUE if you get faint, stop sweating, get an excessive dry mouth, see "spots", have tightness in chest or pain in chest/arms!.

Hope this helps

I believe you need to focus more on losing your beer gut, alcohol, tobacco and salt!. Here is the list of factors causing high blood pressure!.

* obesity
* alcohol
* hormones
* tobacco use
* certain medications
* high salt consumption

Exercise is great, but you have some other lifestyle changes that need more urgent attention!.
