How to avoid getting flabby/saggy skin after losing a lot of weight?!

Question: How to avoid getting flabby/saggy skin after losing a lot of weight?
I'm trying to lose a lot of weight (about 80 pounds) and I know that sometimes losing that much weight can cause flabby/saggy skin.

I suppose that the pace at which you lose the weight can affect how flabby the skins gets; since I started counting my calories, I've been losing between 0.5 and 2 pounds a week.

If I continue to lose the weight slowly, will I still end up with flabby skin? How do I avoid it?

Answers:

There's one other variable: Age. The older you are, the less elastic your skin is. A younger person would have fewer issues with saggy skin than an older person.

One of the two best things you can do is something you're already doing: Go slow and steady. Rapid weight loss is usually unhealthy for numerous other reasons anyway, and it basically guarantees that your skin can't shrink fast enough.

The other thing to do is to stay well-hydrated. The amount of water you drink is directly linked to the elasticity of your skin.

Do it SLOWLY. I had the choice of losing 80 pounds in one year, but have unsightly, sagging skin flaps which look WORSE than the fat itself....or lose it all in 3 years and get my six pack abs which now look like shrink wrap, over my lean muscle.

Fast weight loss will always lose muscle, more so than the fat itself. Do it slow, do it just once...and remain thin for life.

Well done so far with your weight loss. Yes the pace makes a difference but the rate your going at is fine. Also if your younger this problem will be less prominent :)

Don't lose more than 3 lbs per week and moisturize your skin daily.
