Going to IHOP while trying to lose/maintain weight?!
Question: Going to IHOP while trying to lose/maintain weight?
My mom and I are going to IHOP and plan on getting two omelettes and sharing our sides.
I'm getting an egg-substitute omelette with provolone cheese and spinach (300 cals).
My side will be three NY Cheesecake pancakes, but I'll split it with my mom and have 1.5 w/NO syrup (425 cals). My mom's side will be seasonal fruit, which we will share (80 cals).
This totals up to roughly 800 calories. I tried to have a healthy entree while enjoying a pancake treat. Is this too much for one sitting? Would this be fine to eat if I just monitored my caloric intake for the rest of the day, making sure it doesn't go over my limit (1492 cals)?

When I saw your question, I was going to tell you to get an egg substitute omelet with pancakes for a treat. :) You know what you are doing! Be proud of yourself, and enjoy your pancakes! You can't, and shouldn't, cut out all yummy foods when you are on a diet. It will just make you crave them to the point that when you do eat them, you go way overboard ya know? You are on the right track. :)
great you lost 15pound in 6 weeks, keep it up :)

As far as IHOP meals go, that seems pretty decent, the only shortfall is the pancakes. I think IHOP uses the typical box or bag powder batter pancakes, which have a middle ground glycemic index but contain alot of preservatives.
BUT, if those pancakes are your 1 bad meal of the week, you're totally fine. In fact, many trainers recommend a cheat meal during a strict diet plan for motivation and to prevent cravings during the week. So pig out on one of your meals (not the whole day) and enjoy it.
