My waist-hip ratio////?!

Question: My waist-hip ratio////?
I'm fifteen years old and 5'2.5. I weigh 111 and my waist measured 27 inches and my hips measure 32 inches.

My waist-hip ratio was calculated and it said that I was at an increased risk of diabetes. I'm not overweight. In fact, I'm on the low end of my BMI. I just have a big waist.

Why is this? I thought women were supposed to have small waists, but I don't. Do I really need to lose weight?

Answers:

Im the same height as you and I think it all depends on your build. From the sound of it your rather small framed. Having a slightly larger waist is perfectly fine your only 15 it's part of your growth pattern. The reason why it said you were at risk is because generally when your waist to hip ratio is more than 4 inches in difference it puts you at "risk" but its also talking about an adult, not adolescent. At your age as long as your active in sports or walk/play with friends your weight is fine. Your BMI is 20.9 your healthy be happy :) Your range for our height is BMI of 18.5- 24.9. Hope I was of some sort of help..

Im 19 been a nutrition, science, and nursing major since 9th grade and Im currently in college for nursing.
