You can lose weight by jump roping, Bryan - however, you also need to eat healthy foods.
Jumping rope alone won't help you lose a lot of weight.

I would also recommend you jump rope for around 30 minutes a day to begin seeing a difference - perhaps 10 minutes before school, 10 minutes after school and 10 minutes before you have your last meal of the day.
Well, if you want to loose weight you have to balance eating right (dieting) and exercise. You can't just jump rope and eat all the food you want. Calorie count and exercise and you'll defiantly loose weight.

Jumping rope is a great cardio exercise that you can do at home without the need of a machine. But it is really good for you to mix it up. Sprints is an awesome way to lose weight also. Hope that helps.
