Can oatmeal be a substitute in a meal?!
Question: Can oatmeal be a substitute in a meal?
I choose what i eat so when i don't like the food prepared on the table i go straight to oatmeal.
Is it good or bad? I'm also on a diet.
So, can anyone help?
Answers:
Oat's are a breakfast ideal.
Try 3/4 cup cooked oat's (or 2 pkg's instant plain oat's) with a cup of skim/ 1% milk, choice of 1/4 cup nuts/ seed's (or 2TBSP natural peanut butter mixed in hot oat's) with a serving of fruit (~1/4 cup dried fruit's, 3/4 cup fresh or frozen berries, 3/4 cup cherries/ grapes/ melon, 1/2 cup canned fruit/ applesauce, cup of fruit juice or medium fresh fruit; banana/ apple/ orange/ etc)
Add optional 2TSP cinnamain/ nutmeg/ brown sugar/ sweetener/ honey/ coconut/ etc for flavour in oat's.
Best of luck!
For lunch try a sandwhich ideal (eg: wholewheat sandwhich with sliced deli turkey/ chicken/ ham/ roast beef, light cheese, sliced vegetables and lowfat sauce/ spread, eg: hummus/ mustard/ guacamolie) with a lowfat yoghurt and 1/2 cup crunchy vegetables.
Or .. baked beans/ chili with bread/ wholegrain cracker's a light cheese snack (eg: Cheese String/ Babybell) and side salad with light dressing.
Or .. Can of white albacore tuna with wholegrain cracker's/ flatbread, 1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese or lowfat yoghurt with 1/2 cup crunchy vegetables dipped in 2TBSP light creamy salad dressing.
I say no if its by itself. But I'd definitely add berries no protein powder or flax seed After a work out the last two ingredients yes
Oatmeal is very good..and I think it can be a substitute .for breakfats :) and its good...so I don't see why it wuld be bad?
