Why do many mouthwashes have acid in if acid damages teeth?!

Question:

Why do many mouthwashes have acid in if acid damages teeth?

It seems crazy to me. Fortunately I managed to find a brand that proudly says it's balanced to match saliva-PH.

Fortunately I have never used them regularly, only when I have a mouth ulcer. I bet a lot of people spend a small fortune on them though.

Answers:

Actually, I wouldn't recommend the use of mouthwashes unless you use it after half an hour of using toothpaste. It actually mixes detrimentally with the paste and the acid attack can be worse. Don't use it unless yur dentist prescribes it for specific symptoms, and then only for a max of 2 weeks (the good ones, corsydyl etc stain yur teeth as well) Good question, glad you asked.
