Mouthwash and tarter.?!

Question: Can mouthwash really be used instead of flossing to prevent tarter buildup? A link to a study about it would be great.

I've been told that you need to use mouth wash in addition to flossing and brushing. Mouthwash is great for killing germs and bad breath, but it doesn't sweep away plaque on the surface of the tooth, and it certainly doesn't get the gunk from between your teeth!

flossing is always recommended by dentists along with mouthwash

i dont think you should substitute mouthwash for flossing. Both are the best combinations but without flossing the food will be stuck in your teeth and even if the mouthwash kills the bacteria I dont think it will clean up all the tarter.

No! Brushing and flossing only will prevent tartar buildup. Mouthwash is fine to use after you've done that.
