If you just put strips or brush-on whiteners on without a smooth surface, the plaque on your teeth will inhibit the product and make the whitening look splotchy and uneven.
Crest whitestrips work well, but if your teeth are very crooked, it might not work very well. In that case, I recommend using the Crest brush applicator liquid whitener either alone or in conjuction with the whitestrips. If you want to go crazy, brush with a whitening toothpaste to help breakdown surface stains before application of the strips and / or liquid.
