Dentists-receding gum??!
Question:
Dentists-receding gum??
i am 24 and have noticed that the gum around my tooth (bottom left number 3) is receding, this happened a while ago but it seemed to get better? i have 6 monthly checkups and he checks my gums (by applying a number to each one) and although the number is higher than the rest he never mentions there is a problem. i have good teeth with no fillings but last night whilst brushing my teeth when i brushed the tooth in question the nerve was affected (i assume) as i had a horrible shooting pain. why does the gum recede? what will the dentist do??
Answers:
There are many different reasons why gums can recede one being poor oral hygiene. But if you have been brushing and flossing the way you should then it is probably because you are using a firm toothbrush and are brushing to hard. Even using a soft brush and brushing hard can recede the gums. You should always use soft brushes and remember not to brush harder to get the job done but brush AND floss after every meal.
