I want IV sedation not general aneth..?!
Question:
I want IV sedation not general aneth..?
I am getting my wisdom teeth out. The 2 upper ones are impacted, the bottom 2 are halfway through. My dentist said I would probably want general anesthic where I am unconcious and have oxygen through my nose..I DO NOT WANT THAT. I want a IV sedation, where I am still relaxed but concious. I called the office and they said one the day of my operation, I just need to tell him which one I want. For those of you who have had IV, what was it like?
Answers:
When I had my wisdom teeth taken out (all four were impacted) I was given general. It was just like taking a nap. You don't even know when you're intabated, they do it after you're asleep and pull the tube out before you wake up. I've had IV sedation for a couple other procedures, and wish I could have been given general. I remember it all (even they said I wouldn't) and was in a lot of pain. Talk to the anesthesiologist the day of surgery and see what she/he suggests.
