Answers:

Yep, the incisive papilla, or the bump right behind your two front teeth, is one of the most often burnt areas in the mouth due to hot foods. First when eating something hot have something cold to drink to help neutralize the burn, or just run into your kitchen and suck on some ice. After that you can cut some of the pain by several methods. Over the counter medicines for pain and ointments (Orajel and other) that are use specifically for the mouth that can dull the nerves. Be careful of using anything other that that, such as clove oil which can often further irritation and increase the depth of the burn., also remember to swollow asprin, do not let it linger in the mouth over your burn, it may seem like it is allivating the pain, but in actuallity you are inflicting damage that will hurt later (called an asprin burn). Avoid spicy foods or those with strong taste, if you should decide to eat them anyways you can also purchase an ointment called Orabase that will make like a band aid for your mouth injuries, to help seal them and aid in healing. Other small tid-bits salt water helps to draw out extra fluid taking down the swelling, avoid "tonguing" it, and you can always take some extra vitamin C which supports the body in healing its own burns. If it is really serious, since you are writing on here, and healing is not taking place see a dentist they can examine the area and see if anything should be holding the process up. But yep time heals all!
