My tongue keeps getting cut by the sharp back of my front tooth. Anything to do to help it heal?
Dentist says that I can't get it filed down unless I pay for it myself as it would be a cosmetic issue. It is causing me pain. Shouldn't that be covered by insurance? It is highly painful and annoying.

Yes, the pain elevates it to a medical issue. Sometimes you really have to fight with insurance companies, but you need your dentist to fight for you. If he/she won't, get a new dentist.
