Would it hurt to take out your retainer for one night?!

Would it hurt to take out your retainer for one night?

I just got my retainer today. We weren't sure what the dentist said. We weren't sure if he said to take them out at night or leave them in. The problem is..they're closed. Please answer and hurry!!

By the way I didnt have braces before them.

You should definately WEAR your retainer tonight if you just got your braces off today. Be sure and call your dentist tomorrow to find out his instructions in full. Trust me, I went through braces when I was younger, and I am dental hygiene school.
