Dental malpractice?!
Question:
Dental malpractice?
my wife had a root canal done by a dentist, the problem was instead of the dentist referring my wife to a specialist proceded with the treatment and after about 2 hrs my wifes left cheek was swelling, and i had to bring her to the hospital, she stayed there for 3 days and findings showed the she had a blood infection because of the procedure done by the dentist. can we sue this dentist for malpractice , and how do we find a good and inexpensive lawyers and i would like to ask what should we ask the lawyer upfront so we dont get duped in the end.. i know we have a case against the dentist and she placed my wifes life in danger.
Answers:
As a licensed dentist myself I can assure you that all dental students are taught the proper procedures for root canal therapy. I have literally done thousands of root canals in my office without referring my patients to a specialist. If you think your situation was caused by your dentist then you should first talk with him/her regarding the procedure. Then if necessary contact a lawyer for a review of dental law in your state. I hope your wife is feeling better, but I can assure you that any dentist can perform a root canal, but there are certain risks with any medical or dental procedure.
