Is chocholate sopposed to hurt your teeth?!

Question:

Is chocholate sopposed to hurt your teeth?

Every time i have a chocolate candy bar or i have some kind of candy i can feel a pain in my teeth, im worried that i may have a cavity or something. I don't really have any dental insurance and im a poor college student, is there any household remedies for this?

Answers:

You may be having sensitivity due to decay, otherwise known as cavities. My other guess would be that you may have some gum recession, meaning that your gums have shifted (due to infection, brushing hard, or brushing with a hard toothbrush) and the roots of your teeth are showing. You should try a sensitive tooth toothpaste for a month (Crest sensitive, Sensodyne, or other brand) and see if that resolves the problem. Use only one of these toothpastes, using others at the same time will take away the benefits of these. You should look for a local college dental hygiene program or dental school and get an appointment there. Its much cheaper and you can help solve this problem now. If you do wait you may end up spending alot more time and money down the road. Good luck!
