How Much Does Headgear Braces hurt?

I have to get headgear braces and i am very scared to get them because of the pain. I want to know how much it hurts and how long will the pain last? The dentist says i'll have to wear them for approx 6 months then i'll haev to wear normal braces for another 2 years.
