Impacted tooth?!

Question:

Impacted tooth?

I'm 15 and had a tooth that never came down to push the baby tooth down. So ym surgon pulled the babytooth and did a "hook and exposure" they bacicaly went in, moved some stuff around and hooked something to the adult tooth that is still up in my gums. for a year and a half now that have been tugging on it every two years; i have braces and my orthodontist is the one that pulls on it. for this time it hasn't moved much at all. they just went in today and moved things around to help it come down easyer. i really want these braces off NOW!

Has this happened to you?
Do you know anything about it?
I would just like to learn about other cases and basic facts about the problem.-Thanks

Answers:

My sister had a similar situation and it took some time for the tooth to come down. You really don't want to rush this process (or moving any other teeth with braces) because if you move teeth too quickly the roots will resorb (begin to disappear). With out a strong root other problems might occur that take more time and alot more money to fix. Try to be patient and know that it should all turn out well in the end. Hope this helps and good luck!
