I have a question about my teeth?!

Question:

I have a question about my teeth?

When I smile, it looks like it is kind of sideways. For example, on one side of my mouth, my gums are lower than they are on the other side or something like that, so its like my whole smile is slanting sideways.
Is there anything that I can do about it?

Answers:

Go see your dentist. There are things that can be done to fix this but it depends on the problem. You should be seeing your dentist every 6 months for regular cleanings. If you are you need to tell him how you feel about the appearance of your teeth and he can give you an idea of what your options are. There could be more then one thing that could cause this. If the gums that appear lower are red and inflamed it could be periodontal disease. It is very important that you are flossing. This is the only thing that can prevent periodontal disease before it begins. Even if it hurts or it is bleeding this will go away after you have been flossing regularly for a while. If you do have some level of periodontal disease you may even notice a fowl odor when you floss. This is okay and will soon go away with proper flossing. I have including a link below with pictures to show you proper flossing techniques. Either way you really need to see your dentist to have this diagnosed and he can give you the best options for you!
