Born with a naturally 'split' tongue?!

Question:

Born with a naturally 'split' tongue?

I can't seem to find any information about this condition online. I'm not sure if it's that rare, or if I'm just not searching for the right thing.
My husband and daughter both have a 'split' tongue. It's not as bad as you see when people get them done by cutting them, but they can both move each side indepedently. It's odd to me because you never really think of tongue's as being genetic, but my husband's had his since birth, and my daughter was born 10 months ago with the same thing. It's a split on the tip of the tongue that goes about 5mm back into their tongues.
Does anyone else have this, or know where I can find information regarding it? I find it very interesting and wonder too the likelyhood of our future children having it as well (it prevented me from breastfeeding my daughter since she couldn't latch on properly.) Serious answers only please!
Thanks!
