Question: i am currently having treatment on my back teeth(extractions) but i am having treatment on my front tooth, the thing is,i had a post that went into my remaining tooth,to act as a full time tooth, but i lost it,hence the treatment i am recieving now,the thing is with the piece of front tooth still remaining, can anything be added to the gap to make it a bit more respectable (quick solution)to act as a tooth in between treatment.ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I see that you have asked similar questions here regarding this tooth and I understand your concern about having a rotten front tooth.

Yes, when the dentist extracts the tooth, he will make you a temporary bridge. It is made out of resin, usually using the initial impression he took of the area. It will be adequate to hold while the permanent bridge is being made.

There are two issues of concern here. Your issue is how is this going to look? Some dentists make temporary bridges that look terrific and you can hardly tell that it isn't real. Others make crappy looking ones that don't fit well and break all the time. These are made of resin and will stain if you don't take care of them. Smoking, coffee, etc. will cause them to discolor.

The second issue that you have not considered is the condition of the gum and bone in the area of the extracted tooth. After an extraction, the bone level of a tooth shrinks when healing. If you have a bridge made immediately and cemented immediately after the extraction, eventually you will have a gap between the base of the pontic (false tooth) and the exposed gum.

I have seen dentists make a different kind of temporary bridge other than one that looks like permanent kind. This is made more like a retainer, Hawley or Essix, with a false tooth on it, so that the gum and bone will heal and later make a bridge with the proper bone level.
