Can you start with traditional braces and go to invisalign when your teeth are s!
Question: My teeth are too crooked and crowded to start with invisalign, but I'm 18 years old and I don't want metal braces for three years. Could I get traditional braces now and in about a year or so move to invisalign?

i work in an Otho office and some patient star out with invisalign, but have to get braces because the invisalign trays don't really fix the bite. your best bet is probably braces. there are alot of people you age with traditional braces, and most of them wear the clear ceramic brackets. braces are cheaper too. if you did the braces first, and switched to invisalign, you would be paying pretty much double. invisalign is more expensive, because the dentist has to pay a rather large fee for each patient. the fee is around $1000. and the average treatment time for braces is only 2 years. and you know, you are still very young, and 2 years is nothing compared to the rest of your life. you should just go for it.
It's usually the other way around. People opt for Invisalign but the results don't meet the patient's expectations and then braces are used to help meet the patient's needs (granted if their needs are within reason).
If you get braces then you won't be switching to Invisalign. You can see if you can get ceramic braces (clear brackets).
