How can I get rid of the awful taste/smell of bile from my mouth?!

Question:

How can I get rid of the awful taste/smell of bile from my mouth?

I quit smoking a month ago. I suffered a bout of tonsillitis about three weeks ago. During that time I developed an awful taste of bile in my mouth, and often feel as if I've got a big lump of it in the back of my throat. I know that sinusitis can cause this, but usually it disappears with the symptoms. However, it's been three weeks now and I still have HORRIBLE breath - my mouth tastes awful, my breath could kill a man, and I occasionally have this awful smelling mucus that I have to spit out. No amount of flossing, brushing, or expensive mouthwash has been able to solve this - what is wrong with me? Is it a remnant of the tonsillitis or is it some after-effect of quitting smoking? Please help, I don't want to become some kind of social reject!

Answers:

Sounds like your tonsils are still infected, that is an awful smell.
