Can I take a course of Phenoxymethylpenicillin after taking a course of Amoxicil!

Question:

Can I take a course of Phenoxymethylpenicillin after taking a course of Amoxicillin that didn't work?

I have an infection under a filling, or so the Dentist says. I had two replacement fillings and an extraction and I've had trouble with my teeth ever since.
I had the dental treatment in March. I've had two courses of Amoxicillin with about a 5 weeks in between them. I've just finished the second course and I'm still not better.
I suffer from Ulcerative colitis and take:
Azathiopine 3xdaily
Lanzoprasole 30mg daily
And so I guess I have to be carefull what antibiotics I use.

I was given Phenoxymethylpenicillin for a suspected attack of tonsilitis last year, but I never took them as the condition didn't materialize and so I still have the prescription.
Should/could I take them now to try and clear up the trouble I have with my teeth, as I'm getting nowhere fast with my Dentist?

Answers:

amoxicillin and phenoxymethylpenicillan are both penicillan derived. that means that if amoxicillin isnt working for the tooth, the other one is going to ither.

Go back to the dentist and ask for a different broad spectrum antibiotic.
Antibiotics should not interfer with the other meds you are on.
