Does It Hurt To Get Your Braces Taken Off....?!

Question: Does it hurt to get your braces off? I'm getting mine off in a few weeks, exactly the day I got them on three years later. I'm sure any pain is worth getting the metal out of my mouth, but I want to know if I should be prepared for something pain. Thanks!

No I take braces off off at least 3 people a day and most people never ever say "ow" or even wince, we use a gun callled a debracketer and its just a wire loop that gets hooked onto the bracket on any corner and when the "trigger" is pulled the wire goes into the "gun" pulling the bracket off. After all the brackets are off we use a little intsrument that scrapes off the glue and then we use a little bur made out of soft material to polish the patients teeth and then They get impressions taken with that 'goopy stuff' you may have had it before, it goes in a half circle shaped tray an into your mouth sets up and gets a true model of your teeth for final records and retainers. No pain involved!!!

not at all .. i got mine off yearsss ago and it actually felt good while he was taking them off! you'll be perfectly fine! trust me!

I wore braces for three years, and it didn't hurt at all to have them removed. It felt really good, but also very weird. I was used to rough braces on my teeth for three years, so when they removed them, my teeth felt slimy, because they were smooth again! The only thing I remember was that my teeth were sore for a week or two. I had to eat soft foods, because it hurt to eat any type of hard food.

No, it is not painful

It doesnt hurt. But when your orthodontist sands your teeth to get off the glue he/she may go over a sensative spot on your teeth. that tingles and it feels kind of cold.

but you'll be fine

Don't worry at all. I had my braces taken off a year ago and was very scared just like you. All the way over I was chewing on my nails. When I got there I was practily shaking. It takes two minutes and doesn't hurt at all. It feels really good. After wards though, your teeth feel really slimy because you are used to the rough braces. Smile great! :)

no, it will be the best day of your life, you'll lick your teeth like 1000 times
