Anyone ever get a labial frenectomy?

what's it like?

I just had one on Monday morning, I'm not sure if mine is how all go. They gave it to me in the dentist office under local anesthetics. I saw a lot of blood on the gloves of the dentist and hygienist, but it really wasn't bad at all. However it bled for the rest of the day and I'm still having some discomfort. I've been rinsing my mouth out with salt water a few times a day because I have been seeing puss excreted. I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be in this much pain, but the stitches are cool looking (on the plus side)! I got it because my teeth are spreading apart again after braces even though I wear my retainers at night. Stitches come out on Tuesday, so hopefully it will be adequately healed by then. I hope this helps a little. Overall it's really not bad. If you get anxious at the dentist I'm sure they will give you laughing gas. The procedure took only about 15-20 minutes.
