Cavity in a baby tooth?!

Question:

Cavity in a baby tooth?

Is it normal to have a cavity in a baby tooth filled?

Answers:

It is not unusual.
Depending on the age of the child, if it is a tooth they will keep for a number of years then if it is possible it is better to fill it and keep it then have it taken out. It will not cause the adult tooth to decay, but if the tooth is taken out then valuable space can be lost.

It is also important to remember that if a tooth needs to be extracted and the child needs to have a general anesthetic, that there are serious risks involved with having a general, and this should be avoided.
It is more common than you think.

As most children's diets these days have a higher sugar content then most people did years ago, fillings in deciduous teeth (baby teeth) are becoming an every day thing.
