What does an Ortho assistant does? What are the duties? I know they basically work with braces and all of that

But I want some info about what are the difference between the brackets? Can someone tell me, now I would also like to know is does the orthodontist tighten the braces or the assistant? Please explain to me as much as u can, I prefer someone in the dental field because they know what im talking about and please no stupid answers. I will gladly appreciated.

Are you thinking about becoming an orthodontic assistant? Out of all the specialties in the dental field I enjoyed being an orthodontic assistant the most, due to the fact you work a lot on your own. For consultations assistants will generally take the x-rays and note some of the findings for the doctor. During initial visits when the braces are placed they will suction and pass instruments including the bonding agents/brackets to the doctor. On follow up visits the doctor evaluates the progress and instructs the assistant on wire changes, when to place chains, etc. Then the assistant changes the bands and whatever else the doctor instructs. Which I found to be the fun part. Your duties vary based on the office/doctor but it can be a rewarding career. Also you are watching people make changes for the better which is always a great experience!
