Tounge ring! Signs of infection?!

Question: Okay So I got my touge pierced about.. 4 days ago.

Everything seems to be fine, I've mastered eating (finally). The main pain is less than it was before just after 4 days. But theres a few things im curious about.

They told me my tounge will be sore, espically around the tip because it was just pierced, like when you get burned drinking something hot.

How long does that last?

I also have some minor stingy pain that lasts awhile, is that normal too?

What are some signs of infection? I dont think its infected, I've been brushing and using mouth wash. It just hurts (what can i expect theres a rod in my tounge xD).

And.. is the top ball supposed to be sorta.. sitting in your tounge more than sticking out on the top? like.. when a heavy object rests on a piece of foamy material, it leaves a temporary indentation.

And I'd just like to know some other things you feel like throwing in.

Thanks!

I just got mine pierced 2 days ago, and my ball sits on my tongue leaving an indentation too, so I think that it's normal, and once the tongues swelling goes down the indentation shouldn't be there, but I'm not sure, you've been pierced a couple days longer than I have.
I still can't eat, and my tongue is really sore.
Keep brushing your teeth and use mouthwash after you eat anything.

Tongue piercings take about 10-14 days to fully heal. Make sure that you keep your mouth clean by using some Listerine but don't over use it.
Usually the piercing stub is long enough that it will accommodate the swelling. Mine was so long that it left an indentation on the roof of my mouth but you can change the piercing stud after 2 weeks and the piercing has fully healed.
