I'm a dentist.
You know, one of the things that drives me up the wall about being a doctor is that people seem to think that we should be more lenient about being paid for our work than other professionals or businesses.
It just goes to show that, deep down, people feel that they are entitled to health care, just like they are entitled to a vote. Why don't people go to a grocery store, fill their cart with groceries, and ask the owner if they can walk out without paying? For some reason, they seem to feel that they can do this at their doctor's office. It makes my blood boil, just as it makes other doctors' blood boil.
To answer your question, yes, your 60 year-old has to pay for a false tooth, just like he has to pay for his groceries.
if he is on income support he won`t have to pay but if not he will have to pay, economics not justice
If the 60 year old disabled man lives near a United Cerebral Palsy Association, he should go there... they have a dental clinic for the 'special needs' population. It sounds like he qualifies.
Or, if he lives close to a VA hospital, and he's a veteran, he will qualify for being seen at that dental clinic as well.
Mind you, these two places are in the US..........
Good luck, and thanks for trying to help out your friend!
