Only you can answer this question!. You've probably already smoked one by now so I won't even tell you not to! Best Wishes for a speedy recovery!Www@Answer-Health@Com

NO!. You risk sucking out the blood clot from the extraction site and exposing the nerve endings inside!. Just like sucking cold air through your mouth and having a tooth go haywire, or cold water for that matter!. Try having that done to an open wound!. Good luck with your stupidity!. Dry sockets are pretty much the most painful consequence you can get after a dental procedure - worse than the after pains of root canals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In reality the best thing is to not smoke for 24 hours following extractions!.!.!.and then draw on the cigarette softly for another 24!.!.!.!.!.If you ever though about quitting this could be a good time to kick it!.!.!.I won't give you a lecture, I suspect you have heard them all!.!.!.!.Let me tell you this!.!.!.I once had a patient who was a chain smoker and without my saying anything he told me not to say anything about his smoking because he didn't buy into the Cancer thing!.!.!.!.I told him I had nothing to say about his smoking!.!.!.but I looked at it like the fella who didn't believe in God!.!.!.I told him that not believing that cigarette smoking caused cancer was like not believing that God exists!.!.!."What" if he did get lung cancer and died only to then find out God indeed existed!.!.!?!?!?!? Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with Emily, there are reasons why dentists go over post operative care instructions with you after the extraction!. When you smoke, it causes a negative pressure in the mouth (that is why you should not drink out of a straw, rinse mouth, etc!.!.!.) which may cause the clot to come off - this leads to a dry socket (VERY PAINFUL!!!!)!. So you ask yourself if it is worth to smoke!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Didn't your dentist warn you about dry socket!? Smoking is NOT advised!. I've heard that the pain from dry socket NEVER goes away!.

It's your mouth !.!.!.!. is that cigarette worth the possibility of that much pain!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah if you want to risk the excrutiating pain of a dry socket then go for it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
