Can a registered dental hygienist open their own clinic?!

Question: Can a registered dental hygienist open their own clinic!?
I was just wondering if a hygienist can open their own clinic and give references to dentists or if they can hire a dentist to work for them!? Would you have to be a dentist to open up a clinic!? I already own the land but I was wondering how that would work out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
As far as I know, only the state of Colorado allows hygienists to practice independently!. All other states hygienists must work under direct or indirect supervision of a dentist!. In Wisconsin, we can see patients for regular cleanings and xrays if our dentist has seen them as a patient for a regular exam within 1 year!. We cannot give injections if a dentist is not on the premises!. Check the laws in your state, but if you are not in Colorado, you cannot have a practice on your own!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't believe so!.!.!.

I think only dentists can own their own practices/clinics unless the clinic falls under an Article 28 (non-profit), then the dentists work for the company!.

Besides, dentists have the 'final say' as to the treatment needed for the patients!.!.!.!.

Call your state dental association or the ADA!.!.!. you'll get a definite answer then!

No dentist is going to work for a hygienist, go back to school and become a dentist!. Nobody is going to go to two different places to see a hygienists and then a dentist, that's stupid!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think it varies from state to state whether a hygienist can be independent or not!.
