Root canal went bad?!

Question: Root canal went bad!?
I had a root canal done about a year ago and it still hurts! I still feel sensation around that tooth!. I got it checked 6 months ago and they said nothing showed up on the x-ray!. They said everything looked absolutely fine!.So now I feel like I'm confused on what to do!.

Is it normal to have sensation after a root canal!?!?!? That defeats the whole purpose of a root canal!. Now I feel like going back to the dentist and demanding to get this pain off my tooth!

What do you think about this!? Any experience or knowledge or opinions would be much appreciated! I'm so confused!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Did you go to a root canal specialist (Endodontist) or was this done by your general dentist!? Sometimes root canals can be tricky, then you need the services of a specialist!. If you didn't have the root canal (aka RCT) done by and Endodontist you may want to have a second opinion by one!. If a specialist did do the original RCT then you may need a retreat, they should do this at no charge, or minimal charge!. A retreat problem won't always show up on an xray!. And, no, it is not normal, if everything goes well to have pain after RCT!. The whole point is to remove the nerve completely and there should be no sensation at all!. But, if the gums are inflamed, due to insufficient brushing and flossing, you may be confusing tooth pain with gum pain!. If your gums are healthy then you may have residual nerve tissue remaining, in one or more of the canals!. In rare instances you tooth may have an additional root that is not seen on the xray and you would have to have it redone!. Regardless, you should probably be seen by a specialist, or a different specialist for another opinion!.

I would go and get a second opinion!. My dad got a root canal once and it was hurting!. When he went to the dentist nothing showed up on the x-ray and they sent him home!. As the pain got worse he went back to the the dentist and he decided to pull the tooth!. When they went to pull it they seen there was an infection that didn't show on the x-rayWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have had similiar experiences!.!.!.

I went and got a 2nd and 3rd opinion from other dentist!.

The 3rd dentist saw that I had an inflammed nerve under my root canel, it was very hard to detect, but he was a good dentist and determined!.!.I had went about a year!.!.and the 1st dentist just gave me pain pills, and more or less said Deal with it!. Its hard to find a good dentist, but they are out there!.

Something is definatly wrong if you still feel the sensation and pain!.
I hope that you can find someone, who will take the time, to look and find out what it is!.!.!.
Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
