TMJ I am in agony! Any advice?!

Question: TMJ I am in agony! Any advice!?
I have it on and off for years now but never this painful!. This time it's only on side of my whole head!. A few years ago I had a night gaurd fitted but it doesn't fit anymore because my teeth have moved!. There is a limit to what painkillers I can take because I am nursing (baby is three months old)!. I have been taking for two days a dipyrone based drug but I don't think it's safe to take it for much longer!. Is there anything a dentist can do more than what has already been done!? Do you have any advice!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Listen, you can go right to a pharmacy and get a mouth guard!.!.!.much cheaper than the dentist can make and you can get it right now!. You obviously grind or clench your teeth at night (most often due to stress) and that's no surprise since you have a new baby (congrats by the way!)!. When you're done nursing, you may need to take something at night to help you sleep a little deeper !.!.!.for a while !.!.to give your jaw a break!. Use the night guard, try to ease your stress level and try something to help you sleep!.!.!.down the road when your ready!.!.!.and only temporarily to break the cycle!. Also, don't chew gum, if you do, it works that joint too much and it's needs to be used as little as possible right now!. Soup is great during these times, nice soft foods so as not to overwork that joint!. Good luck!. Tanya :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

The advice my Dr!. gave me was 2 naproxen sodium (aleve) or 2 ibuprofen (advil) a day and a mouth guard!.

You may have to get a new mouthguard and re-fit it, and talk to your doctor about side effects from the painkillers!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
