Question: Could you tell me about getting/having braces!?
Any good links to sites will also be appreciated!. I'm getting braces next month and I just wanted know some things ahead of time like how painful is it really, and what's the process of getting them!. Also how much did your braces cost!?

Hi!. I'm not giving my age away, lol!.!.!.but I will tell you that braces definitely aren't cheap!. Please be advised to do **everything** that your orthodontist tells you to do!. Failing to do so will cause issues in the long run, not to mention further spending of money that *possibly* didn't need to be spent! =) I never wore my retainer after my braces were off!.!.!.and consequently my bottom teeth decided to play shift-0-matic on me!.
To answer your questions--my braces didn't hurt in the least!. I had an excellent orthodontis who was very gentle!. It didn't hurt when he put them on, didn't hurt the 2 years they were on, and it never hurt during or after the removal!. What DID HURT was the expander I had to have *prior* to getting the braces!. My mother had to insert a key into the expander, which was in the roof of my mouth-and crank the key every day!.!.!.!.it would 'expand' my entire mouth!. That thing hurt like crazy!!! But---braces didn't!. ;)
As far as the process of putting them on goes, you'll find that will vary with each orthodontist!. I'm sure all of them have their own little 'method' they follow when placing the braces on your teeth!. My orthodontist and his dental hygienist cleaned my teeth "****-n-span" first!. They then 'aired out' my mouth so that there was no moisture in it at all!. (Keep in mind none of this hurts)!. They then used a special adhesive to place the metal brace on each tooth individually!. After all of my teeth were set with a brace, they then went back and "weaved" the wire through each brace, all along the top!. until all the braces were 'wired'!. They then tightened it up and did the same process to the bottom teeth!. The rubber bands were put on last, and I was given the choice between regular 'beige' rubberbands and hot pink (the colors had just come out when I got my braces) so of course I said, "OH hot pink!"

I had my braces removed about 15 years ago---never had a problem with the upper teeth!. Their are still 'brackets' on the backs of my four front teeth (twice replaced) to help keep them straight!. However, the bottom teeth are all crooked again, because I was absolutely STUPID and didn't wear my retainer----totally my own fault that my teeth moved back; don't do what I did; no matter how annoying that retainer is!.
Cost: This will vary WIDELY because some people need head gear---expanders, extra visits!.!.!.jaw adjustments--etc etc etc!.
Good luck, and remember to brush your teeth and brush OFTEN----you don't want the area *under* the braces to be the only "pretty white" area on your teeth!. Brush around the braces often!.!.!.!.and when they're removed you'll have a set of bright whites that say "GLING" when ya smile!. ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

i've had braces, but the cost really depends on the state of your teeth!. I think mine were $1000 to do mine, I'm not really sure!. THe pain factor, they are completely not painful!. Like, they are tender but not "WHOA OW THEY HURT" painful!. When you get them they clean your teeth with this gritty stuff and then they take moulds of your mouth, which is gross!. They then glue the brackets to your teeth, and thread the wire through the brackets, securing them with rubber bands!. You have to go back every month or so and get them adjusted, which doesn't hurt!. then when they are ready to come off, they take everything off and when they pull off the brackets, it doesn't hurt, just pulls a little!. then they take more moulds and you come back in about 2 hours and they give you a retainer, wear it all the time otherwise your teeth will go back to being pooyWww@Answer-Health@Com
First they do a bunch of different things like, mold your mouth (don't worry it's painless), take your height, take a bunch of pictures and xrays!. All that good stuff!. Later when they acutally put the braces on, they clean your teeth a little then just put them on!. It took maybe about 20 mins max for me and i felt nothing!. I didn't even know when she was finished!. I heard many people start feeling crazy pain a couple hours after getting them but i honestly felt nothing, it was only discomfort but no pain!. I don't really know how much my braces cost separately, but including the consultation and xrays and everything it was about 7500-8000!.
Oh, i just read that someone said the price depends on the state of the teeth but my teeth aren't bad at all!. They are almost perfectly straight, i just had to get them for an impacted tooth!. I had braces about 6 years ago, and the only time its painful is when you first get them put all!. Just take a tylenol before you go to get them on and every 6 hours for a day or two!. Also when you get them tightened every month its hurts slightly, but you get used to it, just take a tylenol before your appointment ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com
there are 2 phases depending on how old you are, if you still have some baby teeth!.
first they give you spacers, that hurt like heck so take tylenol
those stay on for a couple days, then they take a mold of your teeth so you'll probably gag, I dont remember but I think sprinkling a little sugar from a sugar packet on the middle to back of your tongue helps you not to gag (or maybe it was salt!?) then they put the braces on, wear them for about a little over a year, then the retainer!. if you have medical insurance it takes a big chunk off depending on how much you need mine costed like 3,000 dollars hahah lol a lot i know they don't hurt at all really it just feels tight after you get them on they are really easy for them to put on, they have this mold of your teeth and they glue it to your normal teeth and the brackets are inside then they take the mold off and the brackets are left on your teeth and then they clean you up and put the wire in, it is not that bad really i was afraid because people said it was horrible but i dunno what they were talking about it is not bad at all i get mine off next year :D hope this helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com
Well it hurts for the first few days!. Best stick with liquidly foods that you can eat without having to bite, try congee or soup!.
As for a process, well you go to a dentist, that would recommend you to an orthadontist!. Wait a while for confirmation!. Then they stick the things in starting w/ brackets, then wires!. It depends if your teeth have any problems!. Sometimes, they need to be pulled out or pushed to sides!.

My braces were around $2000!. Take a motrin before you get them on!. You'll have a little headache afterwards!. I didn't have too much trouble with them!. Don't eat sticky foods!. They tell you not to eat popcorn!.!.!. I did and I didn't have a problem!. Don't bite into apples (broke a few brackets doing that)!. They're not that painful!. Some people get blisters when they sleep, and if you're having problems with that you can go to any music store and buy a Morgan bumper!. Musicians use it so their braces don't interfere with their playing!. You just snap them over the braces at night, and you can reuse them!.

Then, they feed the wire through each braket!. It's relatively painless!. Like I said, I fell asleep!. Haha!.
Make sure you clean your braces!. At least 3 times a day!. You don't want to have brown spots on your teeth!. Make sure you clean around each bracket every night!. They will give you a tiny toothbrush for that purpose!.

the only thing i thought kinda hurt was putting the back bands on bcuz they have to find the right size luckily thats first!. So they put the bands on, then they glue the brackets on (WARNING: Glue is really sour), then they put the wire in, put on the colored bands and bam!. the whole process takes about two hours!. Braces cost a lot more now than they did when I had them!.
Things to know:
1) Brush your teeth consistently or they will get very, very spotty with yellow and when the braces are removed you will have white spots!.
2) ALWAYS wear your retainers after you get your braces off or you will lose all the progress you made!.

I can tell you that I wish I had them when I was growing up!!.!.Now I pay a mint for the dentist to get them straightened, and have a proper bite!. The cost depends on just what kind of braces you need, but you are looking at around $1000-$3000, again, depending on the type that you need, and the work that is involved!. Dentists are a rip!.!.certainly where I am, in Canada!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
ok well there pretty spendy mine cost about 5,000 dollars and umm there not scary they dont hurt when there putting them on its just cement on your teeth then they put these little brackets on then a wire thats about it you get to pick your colors and umm it hurts after ward but just take advil or whatever you take for pain and youll be fine you need to eat non solid food untill your teeth feel better like soup or toast and stuff just cuz your teeth will be tender but good luck it doesnt hurt!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Most people get "spacers" before they get braces!. Spacers are small little plastic things that come in many different shapes and colors!. They put them between your teeth so they can make space to put ur braces in!. When u get braces they put this thing around ur lips so they don't close!. U have to breath from ur nose so that ur teeth don't get wet with saliva!. They glue eatch braket on (the glue tastes REALLY bad so try not to taste it)!. It goes by pretty fast it doesn't hurt much!.!.!. Just for a couple of days u will feel sore take advil or any othe pain killer if needed!. Idk how much braces are :]Www@Answer-Health@Com
