I like gum and chew it a lot, but can this have negative effects on your teeth in the long run?

I don't think so. I've been chewing gum every single day for four years, keeping the same one in my mouth for seven hours (I chew gum to keep my breath fresh while in school, from sixth grade 'til now, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and I have not experience any problems at all. Aside from grinding my teeth while I sleep. I believe my jaw just got addicted to chewing, so at night, while I sleep, my jaw just chews nothing. Lol. But there's products at stores to keep from grinding teeth.
But yeah, I don't believe anything critical results from chewing gum a lot, just make sure you brush your teeth frequently to prevent any cavities.
