How long does the swelling after having a root canal take to go down?!

Question: How long does the swelling after having a root canal take to go down?
I had a root canal on my front tooth on Thursday morning. The next day most of the pain was gone, but there was a lot of swelling. My entire right cheek, above my lip, and inside of my gums were swollen. It has been days and I'm afraid to go to school while it looks so swollen and bad. It is really embarrassing and I just want it to go back down. But it won't! I've tried using ice and such and taking motrin but it still won't work. How long should I expect this swelling? And is there anything particularly that will help it go down faster? It's really annoying.

It depends how well your system to react. I had one about 9 years ago- and my face looked normal again after 11 days, but I had an allergic reaction to a med they used =( You're going to hurt though, theres no doubt about it
