I just lost a tooth and was wondering something?!

Question: I just lost a tooth and was wondering something?

I'm 11 years old.. I just pulled out a tooth and on 1 corner of it, ( a molar ) .. It had a point sticking up about 1 cm high. Anyone know if that's just part of the tooth? And, what is it for?
