how long does it take for the gap between my teeth when i get my expander to close? and usually does it make a big gap?

Expander usually wont make a large gap in the front teeth. It mostly widens the jaw in the back of the mouth more so than the front.
One the braces are on people won't notice the gap really and it will close up pretty quick.
