Should a patient at a dental practice with more than one hygienist, stick with j!
Question: Should a patient at a dental practice with more than one hygienist, stick with just one?
Is it better to stick with just one dental hygienist so that s/he will be familiar with your teeth from visit to visit? Or is it better to schedule cleanings with more than one hygienist (such as alternating between two) in case one has different strengths than the other?
Also, from the perspective of the patient in the chair, is there any way to gauge how competent your hygienist is? I know, for example, mine is fanatical about following all the cleaning procedures, which is excellent. But, other than knowing how many years she's been in the field, is there any way to tell how good she is at the "mouth" part of the exam?

You are the patient, if you prefer using just one hygienist then by all means request the one you want! :)
