How long should I continue to wear my retainers?!


Question: How long should I continue to wear my retainers?
I have had my braces off since my freshman year of high school, and I am now 19 and in college. I still wear my retainers almost every night. I was just wondering how long should I continue to do this, you know if I should continue this habit throughout my whole life, or if there is so many years on down the road where wearing my retainers really wont matter. Any information will be helpful! Thanks!!

Dentist recommend to wear the retainer for the rest of our live due to the loosening of our teeth from the braces. however if you decide that you do not want to wear the retainer for the rest of your life you can either get permanent retainers in the back of your teeth or not wear any at all. You teeth will move slightly but because your gums have hardened to the new position of your teeth you should be fine. I worn my retainer for a year and now i don't wear it at all, and my teeth haven't moved at all.

Since you are wearing your retainer, it gets troubling, doesn't it? I recommend you to get a permanent retainer. It's just a piece of metal behind your teeth to keep them from shifting. Hope this helps. BYE!
